We had already met Padiham twice earlier this season at their place, winning a five goal thriller in the FA Cup, and scrambling a 2-2 draw in the league game courtesy of a Dan Cockerline late free kick, in a match from our perspective that was defined by a terrible performance by a debutant keeper who had since moved on. Both sides started play on 24 points in the lower reaches of the North West Counties League Premier Division. We were ahead on goal difference, but perhaps crucially had a couple of games in hand on the East Lancastrians. Nonetheless, it sure was a six pointer. It was first blood to the men in Red, following a break into the box by Jesse Dowling. He found Kyle Schorah, who in turn played in number 9 Ollie Sanderson who put us 1-0 up.
