Charnock Richard V AFC Liverpool, 6th March 2018

After paying my fiver, I engaged in a programme editing conversation with a couple of the guys on the gate. It was pointed out that due to the original fixture being postponed over the christmas period, that there was a familiar 4 page insert. After entering the ground, Steve Fraser and I got chatting to a Charnock Richard fan who had previously lived in Bootle for twenty years. He explained that on some visits back to Bootle, he has been down to watch Litherland REMYCA a few times. After a promising start, the Reds took the lead not long after the quarter mile mark through Harry Avis. It was a beauty of a shot which went in off the post, with the keeper getting a touch. It had been a first half in which our team played some beautiful football, and showed a great attitude in which they were always battling. For the first 35 minutes or so our Keeper Jack Cookson barely had anything to do. Considering their keeper had a couple of saves, and Leon Arnasalam had an effort that just shaved...

AFC Liverpool v Atherton Laburnum Rovers, 20th April 2019

We started play level on points with Lower Breck in the race for third place, but with a far inferior goal difference by 50 goals I believe. Whilst we were facing the league's bottom club who were already relegated, Lower Breck were facing the other team likely to be relegated. After leaving turnstile duty, a quick trip to the gents meant I missed Anthony Lyons' opening goal just before the quarter hour mark. I then spent ten minutes going around the ground getting fans to vote for their player of the season. Nearly everyone was going for Callum Schorah. On chatting to Alan Harrison, Atherton LR's Secretary had told him that their keeper had been their best player that season, and that they had been through five Managers! During the walkabout to get the votes, the keeper did make one impressive save that was a tip over. I joined Alan not long later, and invited him to join me on rattling duties. A spectacular volley from Jay Howell, from about twentyish yards saw us double ...

AFC Liverpool v Holker Old Boys, 2nd November 2019

Looking out from the Turnstile Hut, I saw a miskick by their Keeper and we got a corner. Daniel Cockerline had already put us in front. Not long after the Keeper's miskick, Kyle Schorah made it 2-0. After leaving the turnstile, I was chatting to George by the tunnel. As I was talking to George, Lee McConchie made it 3-0. It was a beautiful strike into the Holker Keeper's left hand corner. As I walked round to the Crossender Road end, I noticed courtesy of Steve Fraser that Holker's Keeper (who apparently was not their regular keeper), was wearing a Schalke shirt. Funilly enough, I was actually noting this point down and Holker scored a goal to reduce the arrears. It was a beauty apparently. For the record, I don't normally make my notes for AFC Liverpool From Yesteryear during the match! After a period when Holker suggested they may be working their way back into the match, we struck again just before half time. A beauty of a free kick round the wall and into the top co...
