AFC Liverpool v Glossop North End, 22nd September 2012

The match build-up was poignant, with a presentation made to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign to mark the truth at Hillsborough finally being revealed. We led 1-0 at half time courtesy of a Franny Barry goal, after he was played in by John Lawless.   That goal was in fact our first ever against the Derbyshire team.   But it was a miracle from Glossop's perspective that we were not at least four goals to the good at the break.   We had a good early spell in which John Lawless hit the crossbar.   Another Glossop escape saw us get awarded a free kick on the edge of the box, when the foul may just have been committed inside the box.   On another day goalscoring hero Franny Barry would probably have scored a first half hat-trick! Daisy Hill v AFC Liverpool, 5th September 2009

To date, I have only done the trip to Daisy Hill once.  Over the years of travelling around the North West to support the little Reds, there has been the odd occasion in which the internet has misdirected me.  This was one of those occasions, as I nearly found myself in Atherton! I did thankfully manage to get to the ground with 5 minutes to spare.  Alan and Dave Williams were more unfortunate.  Alan had taken a wrong turn somewhere in Bolton, and due to traffic, got to the ground midway through the first half.  At this point we were 1-0 down. There was no doubt that the home side had been first out of the blocks, in a spell which saw our defence all over the place.  Around the time Alan and Dave arrived, we had a good two-minute spell which saw us start to give the home side something to think about down our right.  I sensed that Daisy Hill's momentum had gone.  Unfortunately, I was wrong!  Daisy Hill were playing...
