Longridge Town v AFC Liverpool, 12th March 2022

After doing a spot of political campaigning in Warrington Town Centre I thought I was heading to Longridge in plenty of time for kick off. When my phone Sat Nav took me near Longridge Cricket Club, I thought I had to be near the football club. They are often next to each other in small quaint English places. But suddenly I was heading down narrow country lanes and heading away from the Town. I eventually navigated back and got there in time. I even later saw the Cricket Club to the side of the end we were attacking in the second half! In the first fifteen minutes both sides forced saves from the goalkeepers. Then on seventeen minutes was a moment of magic from debutant Jordan Monthe. After a through ball from Kyle Schorah, Jordan ran at a couple of defenders from the right, came inside before curling a shot in with his left foot to give us the lead. Meanwhile the Longridge youngsters on the drum were intrigued by my rattle! On the pitch, our main challenges were caused by the departure...

Barnoldswick Town v AFC Liverpool, 22nd January 2022

Barlick was a ground we had never won at. I had made the trip to Barnoldswick myself twice before. The last time I think was nine years previously. The two previous visits I did were by public transport, and that was mammoth. On this occasion I did it via the car. And six minutes in a low shot from the edge of the area beat Jack McGovern and the "here we go again" thought inevitably went through my mind and no doubt my fellow supporters. We did respond well. New signing Kyle Sambor had a difficult debut the previous week during the FA Vase defeat to Abbey Hey. Today he looked like he was linking up well with his fellow attackers, especially Callum Schorah. On the terraces, a few of the Barlick local kids were intrigued by the rattles. After a good spell of pressure Jay Howell forced a good block from Barlick Keeper Jordan Gidley following a cross from the left by Jesse Dowling. Callum Schorah was then on hand to tap home to restore parity. Just over 10 minutes later we took t...

Wigan Robin Park v AFC Liverpool, 16th March 2010

Down the years we seemed to have had the misfortune a few times of playing at the Robin Park Arena, whilst Wigan Athletic were also playing next door.  I saw at least one of our supporters on my way into the Robin Park Arena have an understandable moan about the lack of parking spaces.  From the various noises from across the way, it was not too difficult to work out that Aston Villa had in fact gone on to win that particular game 2-1. Onto the real stuff now, and this encounter turned out to be a comfortable evening for AFC Liverpool.  This was very surprising considering both league matches that campaign had only one goal in them.  Having already been denied by Robins Keeper Jay Faulds, AFC took the lead through Chris Parkes midway through the first half.  His superb strike from just outside the box brought a decent attempt from Faulds to keep it out, but fortunately this time Faulds' luck was out. AFC extended the lead into the second half through Karl Gornel...
