Chadderton v AFC Liverpool, 15th August 2015

The FA Cup match at Chadderton will stay in my mind for a number of reasons.  For a while it seemed we could be on course for our record win in our short history.  As it was, I do believe the end result did produce our record high scoring game at that point in our history.
I also met up with my Uncle Peter.  I actually have two Uncle Peters.  This Pete is my Dad's brother, who lives in nearby Bury, having moved away from Liverpool about forty years previously.
Pete had been to a couple of previous AFC matches in the past, when we have played not far from Bury.  Unfortunately, those two matches resulted in AFC defeats, including one previous AFC visit to Andrew Street.
Pete was not too sure if he would stay and watch the full 90 minutes.  With the Little Reds 6-0 up at half time, it was enough to persuade Pete to stay on and see how many we could get.
Probably the best goal of the first half was a deft header by Franny Barry into the corner for the fourth goal.  Alan Williams and Pete missed that goal hitting the back of the net, due to being in deep conversation.
As the second half got underway, I got engaged in conversation with a nice local couple.  When I tried to be respectful, or perhaps tactful that the game was not necessarily over, they indicated that I was being over respectful.
As Steve Jones was about to step up with a free kick just to the right of the D, I warned the couple that he would be dangerous with that left foot.  Jonesy in fact was denied by the post.
After we extended our lead to 8-0, Paul Moore decided to ring the changes with Tuesday night's visit to West Didsbury and Chorlton in mind.  Chaddy then hit back to score twice!
Immediately after Chaddy equalised in terms of the second half scoring, Steve Jones finished the scoring at 2-9 with probably a contender for AFC's best goal of all time.
Noticing the Keeper was off his line, he had the audacity to lob him straight from the kick off, much to the delight of the AFC travelling fans.  That Jones goal was his fifth of the match, and most definitely a special moment.
If there was one amazing stat from that match, it was the failure of Ryan Cox (who did hit the upright late on) to get onto the scoresheet.
