AFC Liverpool v Eccleshall, 23rd April 2011

We had absolutely trounced Eccleshall 7-0 in their backyard on a beautiful autumn day earlier in the season.  The one blight on an otherwise perfect day six months previously was Aaron Stafford being carried off injured, and needing to go to hospital.
On this day we took control with a 2-0 first half lead, courtesy of 2 Aaron Stafford goals.  The first was a header following a precise cross by James Thomas "Smiler" from the left.  On scoring his second, Stafford got caught by a defender, and was forced off, echoing shades of the previous meeting.
We could not add to the scoring in the second half.  Our best opportunity was probably when Smiler shot over when played in down the left hand side.  The visitors had an opportunity to get back into the match early in the second half, but were denied by an important Michael Christopher save with his leg.  I can't really recall them having any threat of note since, as we were able to see this match out.
The main highlight from this match was in fact off the pitch, as we had an Al-Jazeera documentary film crew at Valerie Park.  I remember they were filming us Rattlers as we celebrated Aaron Stafford's second goal.  Having later watched the documentary, the three of us did make the cut, although it was watching the match at a different stage of the game, though still working those rattles!
