AFC Liverpool v 1874 Northwich, 17th December 2016
We had won our previous five matches, and were hoping to do a league double over title chasing 1874 Northwich. It was a match that started a bit cagey, with little being created. The best chance for us came as Jason Carey ran in the inside left channel. He put the chance on his favoured right foot, and shot over. The second half saw the game become more stretched. Our Keeper Mendes had a couple of crucial saves to make, whilst our number 9 Jason Carey had another chance to score. A header came to him about six yards out, but he headed straight at Greg Hall in the Northwich goal. It was probably always a game in which whoever scored first would win. When Northwich's number 9 Tom Bailey headed home on 79 minutes, that is exactly what happened. We did not create anything of note afterwards.
