AFC Liverpool v Alsager Town, 8th August 2015
For this AFC Liverpool from Yesteryear post, I look back to the opening day of the North West Counties League two seasons ago. It was the opening day of the season, and I was predicting a 2-1 home win against Alsager on the Club's new predictor game, which included other games from around the league. A goal from Franny Barry sent us on our way to an excellent season start. Franny chipped their keeper after being played through. As the first half continued, so did our dominance. As we looked more and more comfortable, fellow supporter Steve Fraser and I debated over how many we would win by. Despite our dominance, a second goal proved elusive before the interval. Franny could have got a second, but headed over at the near post. To be fair, the ball did probably come to him quite fast.
